Have room for another concert on your calendar? You might want to make room, as a powerful female driven rock tour is headed out on the road this summer. Blondie and Pat Benatar have announced a concert collaboration that will hit arenas and amphitheaters in July and August. The full extent of tour is not yet known, but so far the two are booked at 12 venues in the United States from July 21 to August 22 with all-female rock group The Donnas providing opening entertainment during select shows. Blondie broke up in 1982, but roared back onto the music scene in 1998 with just as much vigor as before. Like Pat Benatar, Blondie’s Deborah Harry has forged her own solo career by releasing five records during her career. The pairing of these two rock divas was inevitable.
In terms of concerts, 2009 will certainly be known as the year of the package tour, but perhaps its not a bad thing. With the state of the economy, heading out to see a show with “Heart of Glass“, “Call Me“, “Rapture“, and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” all packed into one night is certainly a fiscally responsible way to experience a great rock show. According to this thread, the outing will be known as the “Call Me Invincible” tour…it does have a nice ring to it. There’s so far no official word from either party, but here are the confirmed dates:

August 7 - Bethlehem, PA - Musikfest Grounds
August 8 - Boston, MA - Bank of America Pavilion
August 11 - Canandaigua, NY - CMAC
August 17 - Highland Park, IL - Ravinia Pavilion
August 20 - Austin, TX - Austin Music Hall
August 22 - Biloxi, MS - Beau Rivage Theatre
